Hey there, I'm Mark! 👋

Five years ago, I chose Rossland as my home, a place to get outside, build friendships, and find a community worth investing in for the long term. Now, I'm running for city councillor, and I can't wait to get to know you.

As an elected councillor, I'd be new to politics, but not new to the city. Over the last four years, I've read every single Rossland Council agenda... yes, every one... but it does mean I already know a thing or two about how the city actually works.

I've also spent a decade working with cities to improve public transit with technology. My career has centred on changing how cities operate at scale — not just talking about better local government, but building the tools that help it run. Today, I work as a Strategic Account Manager (I do the business side) at a mid-sized international transit technology company.

I hold a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University. I spent time at Queen's getting involved in student governance, directly representing 4,000 students and managing a $20M annual budget (where I caught the bug for advocacy and elected office!). At the same time, I led an 18-employee science summer camp and sat on multiple boards.

My secret skill is gathering massive amounts of information to form coherent thoughts and take action. I love hunting down the hardest problems I can find. I have a reputation for getting stuff done and having insatiable curiosity.

Around town, you'll find me running ultra-trail races or just stopping to check out the flowers on the unnecessary ridge. I'll also be the one to show you a new stash to ski up at Red, and I know exactly where there's cell service on the mountain to take a meeting during a powder day. In the summer, you'll see me at the Rossland farmers market talking as much as shopping, then casing some jumps on my bike later in the afternoon.
